Revolve & Revolution

artwork & animation commissioned by
Dublin City, Boxroom Productions & Jacky Winter Group
for Brigit Festival: Dublin Celebrating Women for Brigit’s Day.

Revolve and Revolution tells the story of the Celtic Goddess Brigit in the modern world. I love that Brigit stands for so many different things that are both parallel and perpendicular to one another. From water and serenity to fire and passion. Magic, healing, protection, poetry and rebellion - Brigit stands for the complexity of the modern-day woman and the power that they possess in being both gentle and strong.

The animation was accompanied by aerial performers
Nicola Moran and Kate Finegan and music by Ellen King (ELLLL)

I broke the video up into 5 chapters based on what she stood for: Poetry, Nature, Weaving, Magic & Rebellion and created abstract visual story telling with an emphasis on symbols, shapes, lines and colour.
